Focus for December 2023:
"APPRECIATION as "Relating to others and to the world with a basic sense of appreciation, gratitude and joy” is the skill and quality we want to explore, supported with (self)-compassionate qualities in our next practice session.
The Inner Development Goals (IDG) Empathy & Compassion Hub meets every month to practice (self-)compassion and one of the currently 23 IDG skills. As a team that practices collaboration, Galia Tyano Ronen (Israel), Lotta Adelstal (Sweden), Susan Gitau (Kenya), Mirjam Luthe (Germany) and in the East Asia friendly time zone Ha Tran (Vietnam) will hold the space for us all.
Please feel warmly welcomed, whatever your experience is. Simply join the Zoom link 5-10 minutes before the event: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85300270420
About the "IDG Empathy & Compassion Hub":
This practice space each month evolves around the IDG skill and attitude of “Empathy & Compassion”, namely the "Ability to relate to others, oneself and nature with kindness, empathy and compassion and address related suffering.” It is nested in Dimension 3 - Relating - in the IDG Framework: “Caring for others and the world”: https://www.innerdevelopmentgoals.org/framework
We meet monthly in a 75-minute session in an interactive practice format. And we would like to invite you as a potential co-facilitator, as we move ahead. Each session will focus on one IDG skill; we will practice self-compassion both with a guided practice and deep/compassionate listening, as we explore the relevance of that particular skill. We will harvest the fruit that come from each session. And we will leave with personal “heartwork”,, an idea and commitment to bring our own personalised way of developing (self-)compassion into our own lives in-between the monthly meetings.

Background: The idea of this IDG hub was born in the process of preparing for the IDG Gathering in February 2023, in which Chris Germer, co-creator with Kristin Neff of the Mindful Self-Compassion Programme (MSC) and co-founder of the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion (CMSC), and MSC teachers around the world offered a session to the Global IDG community. We had the opportunity to learn how self-compassion is a resource that supports life’s inevitable difficulties and sufferings in communities and societies e.g. in Vietnam, Israel and Kenya.
The above IDG Gathering in 2/2023 created much warmth and curiosity, and sparked energy to continue explore how (self)-compassion might support us as we grow and use the other skills and qualities named in the IDG Framework.
If you want to learn more about Mindful Self-Compassion, look at the recording from the Gathering (Chris Germer introduces MSC and how it relates to the IDGs in the first part) and the resources above.
We look forward to co-create with you!
